Unlike my previous octagon-tiling discoveries (see previous post), this is a chiral, radial tessellation, with the colors chosen to highlight that fact.

I’m writing a science fiction series in which the number 8 is intensely significant, and am seeking ways to incorporate octagons and the infinity symbol in my world-building. I wonder if it would be possible to tesselate an octagon into an infinity shape? I see echoes of it in this design, but as a wordsmith, math has never been my strong suit.
