The Thirty Squares of a Rhombicosidodecahedron

I made this by hiding the pentagons and triangles of a rhombicosidodecahedron, then putting the remaining faces, all squares, into “rainbow color mode.” I did this using Stella 4d: Polyhedron Navigator, which you can try for free right here.

      • Ran into a few issues. I have approximately 72 – 2″ squares of purpleheart cut. The joins – if I go with saw cuts – will be a bit too complex. Some sort of swivel or flexible spline or rod is the only way to go. My math and geometry or by no means an embarrassment to our educational system, but for calculating those angles, I know when I’m out if my depth. I have a photo of my first pentagonal layout, but there doesn’t seem to be an attachment option here. I’ll get it figured out. It’s what I do.
