Rhombicosidodecahedral Cluster

Rhombicosidodecahedral Cluster

It’s made of rhombicosidodecahedra, and has the overall shape of a rhombicosidodecahedron as well. To make it, I started with the polyhedron in the last post, and then augmented each green pentagonal face with a rhombicosidodecahedron. I used software available here: http://www.software3d.com/stella.php.

Ring of Ten Rhombicosidodecahedra

Ring of Ten Rhombicosidodecahedra

If oriented just right, ten rhombicosidodecahedra can be stuck together to form a regular decagonal ring.

You may try the software I used to make this, as a free trial download, at http://www.software3d.com/stella.php.

Augmented Rhombicosidodecahedron

Each face of a rhombicosidodecahedron has been augmented with a pyramid, with all edges being kept the same length.

Twenty Interpenetrating, Rotating Equiangular Golden Hexagons

Twenty Interpenetrating, Rotating Equiangular Golden Hexagons

Alternating sides of these hexagons have lengths in the Golden Ratio. I created this as a faceting of the rhombicosidodecahedron. It also has faces which are star pentagons and triangles, but those faces are hidden in this view.

Rhombicosidodecahedron with Invisible Squares

The essential facts about this Archimedean solid: it has 62 faces total (12 pentagons, 20 triangles, and 30 squares, with the squares hidden here), 120 edges, and 60 vertices.
