About RobertLovesPi

I go by RobertLovesPi on-line, and am interested in many things, a large portion of which are geometrical. Welcome to my own little slice of the Internet. The viewpoints and opinions expressed on this website are my own. They should not be confused with those of my employer, nor any other organization, nor institution, of any kind.

A Celebration

I’m celebrating because my blog broke half-a-million hits today. Cheers!

Twenty Rhombicosidodecahedra, Surrounding an Icosahedron

I made this using Stella 4d: Polyhedron Navigator, a program you can try for free at http://www.software3d.com/Stella.php.

Only Four More….

Trump was bad enough before, but COVID-19 has brought out previously unseen levels of brainless incompetence in the man. I have high hopes that Biden will win decisively Tuesday, without a long wait before the victor is known.

Spectral Tessellation of Rhombi

Tessellation 4, 5, 6

The tessellation above is shown in primary colors. The one below is rendered in shades of blue.

A Tessellation of Regular Hexagons, Squares, and Triangles

I wonder if other people find tessellation relaxing?

A Tessellation of Regular Polygons

This tessellation is made only of regular polygons: triangles, squares, and dodecagons.

A Rhombic Dodecahedron Decorated with Golden Mandalas

To make this, I used Stella 4d: Polyhedron Navigator to take the image I blogged here, and then project it onto the faces of a rhombic dodecahedron. Next, I put that polyhedron into motion for the .gif shown below.

If you’d like to give Stella a free try, the site to visit is http://www.software3d.com/Stella.php.

Golden Mandala

This decagonal mandala is split into fifty golden triangles (shown in yellow), and forty golden gnomons (shown in orange).
